“‘Medicine Shield’ was inspired by the use of animal wisdom and power in American Indian medicine as a potent force for healing and protection. A medicine shield would often be created and decorated with ritualistic healing objects using a significant animal as a central totem. I have used imagery to create my own version using endangered species to engender power and positive energy in a fragile environment. The shield is connected to humans who must carry it as a burden of responsibility for the protection and healing of the planet and all its creatures.” |
